Masquerade and Wedding!

This masquerade mask is so sparkly and has a handmade rose and fluffy feathers on the left side with lovely glittery clear gems, really pretty and perfect for any occasion!
Available in my Etsy shop!

As well as making masquerade masks I also make hairbands and clips, perfect for weddings or evening wear. Perhaps you don't want to wear a mask but still want a bit of feathery boomph so a hair band is a great accessory.

All the items on my blog can be found in my Etsy shop!

Leather mask

I have now finished my leather mask, (I love making these!) I need about a week to make one as the drying out can take a day or two, can't be rushed. I have gently shaped it around my styro head and then painted the leather black and decorated with three metal studs.
I could use leather dye but it appears that dyes fades quite quickly so I prefer to work the paint into the front side leaving the back natural.

The edges have tints of pewter colour and it ties with long black ribbon.

It is comfortable to wear, lightweight and 1.2 - 1.6 mm in thickness.

Fabulous fancy dress costume accessory

Leather mask

I bought some 4 oz veggie tanned leather and have made a smaller mask than usual, with a few creases and rolled slightly rolled edges.
When I was happy with the shape, I let it dry off and then painted it in metallic pewter and copper colours, these are my favourite colours to work with..
It looks quite like crumpled metal, and is listed in my Etsy shop!
It ties with black ribbon and is unisex, great for LARP enthusiasts!

Steampunk Mask custom orders

Here are my latest masks, some are custom orders which I have really enjoyed making!

The blue green one is such a lovely colour with a hint of iridescent.
The Christmas party mask sparkles perfectly for anyone that doesn't want big boomphy feathers but needs a touch of bling.

This Steampunk was a custom order, aged effect traditional masquerade with a touch of Steampunk.
This is the blue green custom order finished, I added swirls and a fern style pattern in a gorgeous shiny gold.
I am working on a red butterfly mask and an apricot and gold shabby mask at the moment, pictures soon. :)

Masquerade butterfly mask with fluffy feathers and sparkle

Here are my two latest party masks, hand painted and decorated with glitter, ribbons and sparkly gems.

The sea green turquoise mask has green and blue sparkly gems with shiny gold detail and glitter. The focal butterfly is a gorgeous blue green and nestles in with ribbons and black fluffy marabou feathers.

The purple is a nice blue purple almost petrol like with hints of pink and gold around the edges. shiny gold detail and large lilac purple acrylic gems add a nice sparkle. There is a purple fabric butterfly nestling within the fluffy dark pink marabou feathers and spirals of gold wire pop out for added interest.

Both these masks are available in either my Etsy or Folksy shops.
They are one of a kind and ready for delivery.

Jack Frost/Ice Queen glue mask masque masquerade masked ball tutorial tips

Glue mask making tips/tutorial.
I have been dying to try this out, so I bought some extra long ( 30cm) x 11 mm hot glue sticks and had a go!
You need greaseproof paper and a template or just draw your design onto the paper if you can!
Heat your gun right up and off you go!
I used white organza as a base but you don't need to have a base as the glue builds up to a thick layer anyway, but I thought shiny white organza would look effective.
Do the outline first concentrating around the eyes and edges, and then just build up until you are happy with your design.
I put glitter in between the layers but you can wait and do that after.

Once it was dry, I roughly cut away the excess organza, I say roughly because it is too fiddly to be neat and it also leaves a nice raggedy edge that fits in well with the style.

This is the mask finished with long white sheer organza ribbon to tie.
I topped up the glitter as well ...for lots of sparkle.
You can add rhinestones, pearls and buttons, in fact anything you feel works with your design, just go mad with your glue ! lol

Once it is dry you can also use spray paints or nail varnish for your metallic and glittery effects.
Looks fab in all sorts of colours and is great fun to make! :)
