Dark Fairy Queen hair accessories

On the darker side

As promised ..here are some pics of my Dark Fairy/Vampire hair accessories
I have made them using charcoal coloured reindeer moss, black lace, ribbon roses and cute little bat wings!

They look fabulous on and are available to buy from my Etsy shop!

They come in a variety of designs and on different coloured Alice bands.

They are the perfect costume accessory to wear for Halloween parties, Goth events and festivals.

Light weight and comfortable to wear, these are suitable for teens to adults, not for small children as they have small parts and are a delicate item.

Purple and silver leather mask

I have finished the leather mask now, it looks fab in metallic purple and silver, really vibrant and shiny.

I just need to add the ribbon, which is doubled up narrow purple and matches perfectly!

The mask will be available in my Etsy shop over the next few days.

It is suitable for both men and women.
Comfortable and ties with long ribbon.

Purple leather mask

Now that my commission mask of the bird of prey is finished, I have started on a leather mask.
I cut out the shape from my veggie tanned leather piece and then wet molded it, curling the edges and getting the nose bridge nice and comfortable.

At the moment it is drying out nicely and when it is completely dry I will paint it purple, maybe metallic purple, ..we will see!

I will upload pics in a few days of the finished mask, so watch this space or visit my Etsy shop to see the listing :D

Leather masks

I have been working on three leather masks lately and a commission order of a couple of bird masks, I can't show these yet though as they have to be ok'd by the company.

Here are my leather masks, and they are now available in my Etsy shop.
They have been designed by me "Debbs Elliman" and hand cut from veggie tanned leather.
I then wet molded them into shape and when they dried out I hand painted them with acrylic paints.

The first one is black with a metal spike, it ties with long black organza ribbon and only covers one eye!

The next one is more of an armour style mask, with pewter metallic paint work making it look almost metal!
It is comfortable to wear and ties with long black ribbon!

And then there is this gorgeous crimson red leather mask, with a black leather heart attached to one side, this is easily removed.
It's the perfect mask for any Valentine masked event, and suits both men and women!

Red Devil mask and spikes for masked ball events

I have been working on a leather mask and it is now finished, I love working with veggie tanned leather, it really is hands on!
Cutting it out into the shape I require, drenching it in water and shaping it is such fun. Then painting it and adding studs ..my favourite type of mask making! Here is my finished mask ..a Devil with horns and studs, it ties with long red ribbon, is comfortable to wear and it's available in my Etsy shop!

Beelzebub,Satan,Lucifer,Prince of Darkness,Diavolo
Perfect for a fancy dress party, carnival or masked ball.

I also had a delivery from Venice of my blank mask bases ... I like to use these bases because I love the quality and they are a good base to start with, I sand them down and then paint them with quality acrylics and add all my embellishments to finish, here is one I finished this week!

It has white feathers and clear sparkly gems and looks very pretty, just perfect for a masked event!

And ...here is one for the men, Italian made base ..hand painted in black acrylic and decorated with spikes, looks really cool on too!

Masquerade mask for men ..simply gorgeous!

All my masks are available in my Etsy shop, I do take on commissions as well, so long as you give me plenty of time ..like say six plus weeks! :)

Christmas masks, Ice Maiden,Jack Frost and Bridal Chic!

Hi There!

I have been busy making a glue mask, I love making these and they look so amazing on!!
I use a hot glue gun and spread the glue over a non stick sheet with a template visible underneath so that I can trace around it.
I keep going until I have built up to the design I require and then I add glitter and acrylic gems.
These masks looks fab and even though they are made from hot glue they are perfectly fine to wear in normal room temperature.
If you store them or wear them near direct heat such as spotlights and open fires ..they will start to go very soft and sticky, this is fine but it flattens them out and loses the shape ...which means you will have to reshape them again! :)

Makes a fab Jack Frost or Ice maiden!

I also made this gorgeous bridal style masquerade mask, it is painted in white metallic and covered with faux pearls, fluffy marabou feathers and BLING!!!!
Looks absolutely beautiful on and the fabric flower at the side sets it off just perfect!
It is made from a pre-made sturdy pulp mask blank, so is light and comfortable to wear.

You can find my masks in my Etsy store or my little Folksy shop!

Beautiful Peacock Mask

I have been working on a peacock mask again, I did one a year or so ago and really enjoyed making it!

This time I used some mod podge and a pretty serviette, I had to make sure it was different to my first one because as a rule I try not to repeat unless I get asked too!
I built plaster bandage over a plastic base and shaped a nice beak, but not as long and pointy as my first peacock mask.

When it was dry I painted it all over with acrylic and decorated it with glitter and gems, feathers and sequin trim.
The back is lined with soft white felt and the mask ties with long black ribbon.

You can see that I managed to put the peacock head central on the mask, I quite like how this looks!

The beak is gold and even though it is plaster based it isn't too heavy!
This is a comfortable mask and I would say fits a small or medium adult.

You can find this mask in my Etsy shop :)

Where has the year gone?

This year is flying past and already we are into September, ..almost time for my weekend at the National Space Centre Creator Fair 19/20th Sept
I love this event, as all types of crafters will be there ..from Jewellery makers to electronic!

Here are some of my latest makes, the masks above with the metal cogs has now sold and so has the bronze powertex cat just below! :)

This mask is gorgeous and even better still in the fact that the butterfly is fitted with a flashing LED
Please visit my Face Book page to see it in action, just follow the link!

I also love making or decorating these little hats, the little bowler hat was pre-made, so I decorated it with net, feathers and ribbon roses, it has a crocodile clip so you can attach it to your head on the angle ...looks so sweet!

I just love my mini top hat, I made this one myself and covered it with this super skull fabric, ribbon, roses and feathers, it is attached on the angle to an Alice band, is very comfy to wear and looks fantastic!

This is my summer garden mask, isn't it pretty?

Last of all is the mini witch hat for Halloween, this was ready made blank so I have decorated it with feathers, spider ribbon and witch themed metal charms.

All these items can be found in my Etsy shop, I pack well for postage and get the orders out no later than the next day unless you check out from sat midday, then I post on the monday!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

Belle of the Ball!

This mask has a touch of Dark Victorian to it, with the skull cameo and black feathers and veiling.
Looks amazing on and would be perfect for a more Gothic themed Masked Ball.

Love this one ...so pretty with pearly pink and lace, lots of small bling to making this very romantic!

And finally today.... one for the men, A stunning metal effect mask with cogs for those Steampunk enthusiasts!

Masquerade and Wedding!

This masquerade mask is so sparkly and has a handmade rose and fluffy feathers on the left side with lovely glittery clear gems, really pretty and perfect for any occasion!
Available in my Etsy shop!

As well as making masquerade masks I also make hairbands and clips, perfect for weddings or evening wear. Perhaps you don't want to wear a mask but still want a bit of feathery boomph so a hair band is a great accessory.

All the items on my blog can be found in my Etsy shop!
