It's almost that time of year again ..Christmas parties and New Years Eve!!

Party Time!

The last posting dates outside the UK are the first week in December, so if you are thinking of getting a mask please make sure you order in plenty of time to avoid disappointment!

I have a great selection of handmade or hand decorated masquerade masks, each one is different and they are perfect for masked ball events, weddings and celebration parties, they are all suitable for teen to adult ladies or men ....some are unisex.

Christmas party masks

Well ...I need to get busy making more Icicle masks as my stock has completely sold out!! :) 

I love making these masks as you probably have already realized, so watch this space as they say for more!

I am working on another gold one at the moment ..I will put pics up when it's finished, in the mean time I have finished a pretty black and pink ladies Italian Venetian style mask!

It has a mix of black and dark pink fluffy feathers, a black taffeta bow and lots of gems for extra sparkle, you can find it in my Etsy shop, it would make the perfect mask for your Christmas ball, prom or Masked New Years Eve party!

Beautiful Peacock Mask

I have been working on a peacock mask again, I did one a year or so ago and really enjoyed making it! 

This time I used some mod podge and a pretty serviette, I had to make sure it was different to my first one because as a rule I try not to repeat unless I get asked too!

I built plaster bandage over a plastic base and shaped a nice beak, but not as long and pointy as my first peacock mask.

When it was dry I painted it all over with acrylic and decorated it with glitter and gems, feathers and sequin trim.

The back is lined with soft white felt and the mask ties with long black ribbon.

 You can see that I managed to put the peacock head central on the mask, I quite like how this looks!

 The beak is gold and even though it is plaster based it isn't too heavy!

This is a comfortable mask and I would say fits a small or medium adult.

Halloween Masks

I love Halloween and all the effort that goes into the fabulous costumes!

I have been busy making some Halloween masks, here are a few pics for you to see what I have been up to!!

This a traditional style masquerade mask in a nice purple, decorated with hand painted webs, cobweb ribbon, feathers and metal charms, it looks fab on and would be perfect for a masked ball!

This is a shimmery black fabric mask, with feathers and a big spider nestling in the cobweb ribbon, an elegant mask with a spooky twist! 

A witch's hat Alice band, how cute? 

Set on the angle and comfortable to wear!

How about spikes?

This is a black hand painted leather look mask, encrusted with gold spikes, it ties with black organza ribbon and is comfortable to wear.

Perfect for a rock chick or punk themed Halloween!

Zombie Alert!!

This is hand painted and is perfect for men but can be worn by ladies too! 

I t even has a few stitches and a little trickle of blood, fake of course!! 

Just love this one for the men!

Someone commented that they love it because it's a little bit naughty #50shadesofnaughtiness

It is a metallic pewter and has silver coloured spikes, it will be great for Halloween or a masked ball event.

And ..last but not least is this one, I think it has a touch of "The Crow" to it, but it will be very fitting for a Halloween party or any masked event, it ties with long black ribbon and is hand painted.

My latest project is a real leather mask, I am going to make a "Devil" and paint it red with a touch of black, here you can see that I have cut out my main shape, next I will wet mold it ..can't wait, this is my favourite make!! :)

 This black mask has a lovely shimmer and black feathers, with pink and lilac bling!

 Here we have a gorgeous gold mask with daisy and gem embellishments, black feathers and bird cage veiling!

 I love this mask, it is so romantic with red ribbon roses and a pretty shimmer!

Beautiful bling encrusted mask

Her is my latest mask, it is apricot coloured and encrusted with gems and pearls!

 Pretty little roses and gold swirls, with fluffy peach feathers ...so pretty!

 The colours go really nice together, soft and beautiful!

 Looks amazing on and will complement that little black dress and those nude shoes!

Steampunk Mask custom orders

Here are my latest masks, some are custom orders which I have really enjoyed making!

The blue green one is such a lovely colour with a hint of iridescent.

The Christmas party mask sparkles perfectly for anyone that doesn't want big boomphy feathers but needs a touch of bling.

 This Steampunk was a custom order, aged effect traditional masquerade with a touch of Steampunk.

 This is the blue green custom order finished, I added swirls and a fern style pattern in a gorgeous shiny gold.
I am working on a red butterfly mask and an apricot and gold shabby mask at the moment, pictures soon. :)

Party season

My latest mask is black and silver with Christmas décor, it looks lovely and sparkly!
I love the black and silver together, it looks like winter swirls of snow. :)

It really sparkles and looks lovely and Christmassy!

LED carnival Mask masque masquerade carnival masked ball

Wow! I can not believe it's been about five months since my last post, where does all that time go?

I have been doing lots of craft fairs this year and my last one was at The National Space Centre for the Creator Fair weekend.

It was great meeting lots of people and one of the stalls there was run by Kitronik!    http://www.kitronik.co.uk

They introduced me to their E-Textiles & Conductive Thread which is amazing as you can sew LED lights into textiles such as handbags, clothing and toys.

I was really tempted and treated myself to their Electro-Fashion Deluxe E-Textiles Pack £14.95
 https://www.kitronik.co.uk/2728-electro-fashion-deluxe-e-textiles-pack.html but was still unsure how I could incorporate the lights into one of my masks.

I was very kindly sent a sample box as I had chatted with the guys from Kitronik and expressed an interest in using their product in some way on one of my masks.

Well...after a bit of thought I decided to add some lights to a butterfly that would be the focal of a gold masquerade mask with fluffy feathers.

I was going to use three lights but realised this would be a bit of a squash on the back of the butterfly and the thread might touch causing the lights not to work.

 After I pierced the holes in the ends of each wing, I chose my needle, not too thick but not so thin either as the thread is quite thick, it is suggested that you thread your needle with the aid of a needle threader as it is made up of several strands and frays out quite quickly, Also ...this is so much easier than trying to just push the thread through the eye of the needle.

I attached the small coin cell holder to the bottom part of the wing with the conductive thread...
  making sure that I went through the holes at least half a dozen times as this gives the lights a good strong connection once the battery is added.

I then carefully stitched along the pattern of the butterfly so that the conductive thread wouldn't intrude too much on the design side. I sewed through the negative hole of the LED that I had earlier curled into small hoops with my round nose pliers once again going through several times and then continued to stitch across the butterfly until I reached the negative hoop of the opposite LED.

After placing a small square of sticky backed felt carefully over the negative connection, I then sewed in the same way again but joining the positives together. I put the felt over the thread as I knew the positive thread was going to touch the negative side and this would mean the lights not working.

 

 

The coin cell battery was placed into the holder and I was very pleased with the effect.

Once I had finished the mask I attached the butterfly to the side amongst the feathers and WOW!

 

 I love it!

 

 

The battery is easily accessible and should last long enough for an evening at a  Masquerade Ball!
