Green leather medieval mask

I was recently asked to make a medieval mask to go with a green outfit for a festival, it was decided that leather would be the best effect so I set to it and this is the end result!

I cut the shape and then cut out different sized leaf shapes and sewed and glued them into place, some have a shiny bead sewn into the centre to add a glint of shine here and there. It is finished with swirls of gold glitter and black ribbon to tie.

 

I am very happy with the end result, it is soft and will be very comfortable to wear at the festival.

 

 

 

 

Masquerade Mad

I am working on this Vintage cottage chic mask at the moment but am unsure if I like it or not, I feel it is slightly lacking but just can't decide what to do!?!

I have added pearls around the eyes and I must admit it does look better in the flesh so to speak but is definitely proving to be a bit of a headache! :)

Me...owww cat masks

Cat masks are my favourite for decorating, I love making all the masks that I do but I think the cats are the best!

I am pleased to tell you that this purple one has SOLD! :)

I am starting to see that the black ones are the most popular, I guess they look the most realistic!?

Leather Mask

I have been desperate to try making a leather mask, so was happy to find some suitable leather and have a go. The leather was really thick and very hard to cut but I managed it and set to work.
I started with this piece of 5mm leather.......... used a hand drawn template and cut out my design.

 

And after all my hard work and nearly slicing off my one of my fingers I ended up with this mask!

 

I am very happy to say that this mask has SOLD! :)

 

Snow Queen?

I think perhaps I am heading towards an Ice Queen!?

Snow Queen Venetian Mask

My next project is a white mask and I will call it "Snow Queen"!

I have the base ready and have painted it white with a slight shimmer, I also have lots of ribbons and embellishments ready to decorate it.
Step by step pics will be added so you can follow my progress. :)

Halloween mask......finished

I had a big problem getting the type of spider I wanted, when I finally found it it arrived broken!
So..I had to start searching again, in the end I went for plastic spiders, six of them and glitzed them up a bit, I am quite pleased with the end result and this also means I can move on to my next creation!

Halloween mask

I am working on a Halloween themed mask now, just need a spider (not a real one! ewwwwww) to finish the look!

The ribbons and feathers are ready, the heavy coat of paint has been added since this picture and I have ordered a rhinestone spider from eBay.

I just need to get my head around things at the minute because I was made redundant today, no more job there and then! I had my suspicions and actually thought it would happen this coming January, but....I got a phone call last night asking me to go into a meeting this morning and there we have it....liquidation = no job!















I have found a spider now and am just waiting for it to be delivered, hopefully she will fit the mask just perfectly!  Everything is ready and waiting, just need to fire up that glue gun!

Seeing red!

My latest mask is going to be red and black.
I have painted the base with crimson acrylic and put an over lay of red lace on one side and stamped a lace effect with black ink.
Just waiting for the black glitter and glue on the acrylic gems to dry.

I have a nice lace design stamp, so I randomly stamped in black permanent ink over the crimson acrylic, then put on the black glitter and started on the red acrylic gems.

 Now I have added a sequined edging, made an organza and lace bow and sewn a large acrylic gem to the middle.

It's almost finished, just needs lots more gems and more glitter, then I will add it to my website!

Art journal

I am the most rubbishy blogger there ever was, I never find the time to blog these days, so today there must be something wrong with me! oh hang on, it must be something to do with having my hours cut at work!
Well, I still don't think that I will improve after today, but there is always the chance I will!

I have been admiring art journaling in one form or another and really like it, so......after my recent visit to the NEC, I was inspired to start a book.

Here are my first two pictures, what do you think?

I have used acrylic inks,paints,stamps and stamp pads, stickles, tulip, glue,fabric and anything else I can get my hands on!

My next picture is a dragonfly that I have drawn freehand in black pen, I will continue with it when I get some free time, next week I guess! :) (or perhaps I won't be back for another five months!) :-/

Needle felted styro foam head

I worked hard yesterday on my "Nefertiti" and she is almost finished.....yay!

I have really enjoyed this project even though at times I thought I was mad and the felting got a bit of a chore, but the worst is over and she is almost finished!

Why I set myself this task I dont know, perhaps it was the challenge that tempted me!

Whatever it was, I have enjoyed it!
